Leaky Pool Skimmer Replacement – North Port, FL

Challenge: The homeowner noticed persistent water loss around the skimmer area, with visible seepage and a slow but steady drop in pool level. Upon inspection, the skimmer body was cracked and the faceplate seal had completely failed, allowing water to escape behind the fixture and into the surrounding structure. This is one of the most frequent (and frustrating) pool issues in Florida — a leaking skimmer can undermine pavers, erode decking, and lead to costly secondary damage if not caught early.

How We Solved It: We began with Leaktronics acoustic hydrophone listening and targeted pressure testing to confirm the skimmer as the sole leak source (no additional plumbing or shell issues).

We carefully removed the damaged skimmer assembly, cleaned and prepared the mounting surface, installed a new high-quality replacement skimmer with upgraded seals and gaskets, and re-sealed all penetrations using marine-grade epoxy and proper bedding compound. The entire line was pressure-tested post-install to verify zero leakage, and the surrounding area was restored to original grade.

Result:

  • Skimmer fully replaced and 100% watertight

  • Water loss completely stopped

  • No further damage to decking or pavers

  • Pool returned to normal operation the same day
